Sometimes called a "crown of thorns", this plant is extremely drought-tolerant, always flowering (clusters of tiny red flowers), and yes lots of sharp thorns. It has outgrown our window space, plant stands almost 3 ft tall and mostly growing upwards within about a foot in diameter with one long side branch growing horizontal (could be pruned off).
Here's a link to info about it (note her photography is very pretty, in person the plant is not quite so glowing): http://ourlittleacre.blogspot.com/2008/03/what-was-jesus-crown-of-thorns.html
In your response, please indicate whether you could come pick it up in the next hour, in South Slope Brooklyn.
